The San Diego Bowl Game Association’s board of directors has elected Chuck Wasker president of the 2011 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl and San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. He succeeds Eric Graves, who becomes chairman of the board.

Wasker joined the bowl association’s committee in 1997, and was appointed to the board of directors in 2004.

“It’s an honor to have this opportunity and serve as president of this prestigious organization,” Wasker said. “The bowl games provide a tremendous benefit to the San Diego region and they are supported by an incredible group of loyal, enthusiastic and talented volunteers. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and building upon the strong foundation my predecessors have developed.”

The mission of the organization is to generate tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens by producing the nation’s most exciting bowl games and festivals of events. Since its inception in 1978, the San Diego Bowl Game Association has generated more than $600 million in economic impact for the San Diego region.

Wasker grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and is a 1976 graduate of Kansas State University. He is senior vice president at Colliers International, a leading company in the field of commercial real estate.

He resides in Carlsbad with his wife, Gina. Together they raised two children, Max and Laura.

Other 2011 elected officers for the San Diego Bowl Game Association include: John Wertz, president-elect; Irene Oberbauer, secretary; and Chuck Lemoine, treasurer.
